My name is Hicham Benali, and I am building Benali Leather from my home workshop in Kenitra, Morocco.
Benali Leather is a new business, and I want this website to reflect that honestly. I am still developing my process, testing materials, improving my stitching, and making my first wallets.
Nothing is for sale yet. I am preparing the first small batch, and when it is ready, it will be released here on the website.
What I’m Making
I am focused on one thing: simple leather wallets made by hand.
That means minimalist card holders and bifold wallets designed to carry what you actually need without unnecessary bulk.
Each wallet is cut, saddle stitched, edge finished, and assembled by hand by me in Kenitra.
No factory production. No machine stitching. No large inventory sitting in a warehouse.
The Leather
I am currently working with full-grain, vegetable-tanned Italian leather and testing different hides to find the right balance of firmness, texture, thickness, and durability for a wallet.
Full-grain leather keeps the natural surface of the hide. With regular use, it develops its own patina, becoming softer and changing in color over time.
Because I am still in the early stages of the business, choosing the right leather and refining the construction of the wallet is a big part of what I am doing now.
I would rather take more time before launching than release something I am not happy with.
Why I Started Benali Leather
I started because I wanted a wallet that was simple, well made, and something I would actually want to keep for years.
Most inexpensive wallets I found felt disposable. At the other end, many premium wallets still came from large-scale production.
So I decided to learn how to make one myself.
What started as a personal project gradually became Benali Leather.
Made One at a Time
I am not trying to build a factory.
The idea behind Benali Leather is to keep production small enough that I can personally work on every wallet.
My plan is to release wallets in small batches, improve the designs over time, and grow the business slowly without losing the handmade part that made me start it in the first place.
What Happens Next
The first batch is currently being prepared.
When sales open, wallets will be available directly through BenaliLeather.com. I also plan to offer tracked shipping to customers outside Morocco.
